Towfish (sidescan and video) and echo sounder surveys were utilized to examine bottom type and macrophyte cover within the area of two coastal marine finfish aquaculture sites, one in New Brunswick (Welch Cove) and one in Nova Scotia (Jordan Bay). Both towfish and echo sounder data could be used independently of one another. However, the towfish data were very useful for ground truthing echo sounder based classifications. All survey data were placed into a GIS which could be used to answer management questions such as the placement of cages at sites, benthic impacts and baseline conditions to determine long term changes. Sondage vidéo exploratoire et échosondeur de Welch Cove
On a utilisé un poisson muni d'équipement vidéo et de balayage latéral, et unéchosondeur afin d'examiner le type de fond et la couverture de macrophytes dans lazone de deux sites marins côtiers d'aquaculture des poissons à nageoires, un au Nouveau-Brunswick (Welch Cove) et un en Nouvelle-Écosse (Jordan Bay). Les données obtenues par le poissonmuni de l'équipement vidéo et de l'échosondeur peuvent être utilisées indépendamment les unes des autres. Cependant, les données obtenues par le poisson muni de l'équipement vidéo étaient très utiles pour les classifications enfonction des vérifications sur terrain de l'échosondeur. Toutes les données d'enquêteont été saisies dans un système d'information géomatique, et on pourrait s'en servirpour répondre à des questions de gestion telles que l'emplacement des cages sur lessites, les incidences sur le milieu benthique et l'état de référence afin de déterminerles changements à long terme.
